While I am still waiting for my TT bike to arrive, I did a pretty descent TT with my AR1 - 9.75km in 13 minutes flat, which means average speed of 45km/h:
As these things go, when everything seems fine, sooner or later it will al go down the drain. This Murphy's law stands true all to often in my book. After to cyclists more than unfriendly winter, I had my doubts if I will be able to prepare for Race around Slovenia so well that I could race with the best. But things turned right at exactly right time and by the middle of april I could feel I am on a right track to start RAS optimaly prepared. I became more then optimisti c, even so that I started to believe in my chances to take on Jure Robic for a victory. Things went sour when I got wet a couple of times during Lek's marathon for better breathing and I could feel the consequences with sneezing, headaches and bronchitis before the race.
This season I will ride in cycling shoes GEARNE. I admit, I started to think about those when Cadel Evans won the World Cycling Championship in Medrisio last year and the shoes like that simply cannot be bad.
A lot of people have told me in the recent years it would have been nice to be able to ride the course of RACE AROUND SLOVENIA in non-racing tempo. That is why I decided to organise a frendly biking around Slovenia. For the RAS route of 1.186km we will take 5 days time, from April 25th until April 29th, 2010. We will get to know the course of RAS, talk about what's needed for ultra-cycling races and most of all we should have lots of fun. Of course, the event is only for well prepared cyclists, as we will cover around 240km/day on average.
After a (too) long Winter, the weather has finally turned around and permitted me to make some training rides in the afternoon after work. The new equipment supplier on board is LOUIS GARNEAU, which will provide the helmets for season 2010:
After 2 week »rest« caused by illness, I was quickly back in the swing of training. 3 Spinning classes, some indoor trainer rides and on Friday I could finally ride my bike outdoors after work. With darkness nearing fast, it was short and fast (80km with average speed 35km/h). On Saturday morning we took the kids to St. Primoz mountain, a really nice walk in the sunshine and snow at the top. The afternoon was reserved for my bike ride, another 110km. Sunday was supposed to be my long ride and so it was. To tell the truth, I shortned it a bit, realizing that it is only a week after the illness. I had to do with 200km in a little over 6h.
After a pretty long illness, it was time to start with »real« training. And it is about time to start blogging on my website again. Today, something more about my winter training period and I promise I will try to report about what's going on every week, if possible (at least) on Mondays?
