Everything is ready now. The van is filled with food & drinks, of course we cannot leave home without DANA water and juices. ;) We are waiting for the crew to show up and then we are off towards our first stop at family Jamezic house.
It will take us approximately 7 hours to get there if there are no problems the road. We have quite a lot to discuss considering this year’s novelties and probably we will also talk about last year’s great memories. After we spend a night at our host’s house, we will continue our way to Schaffhausen. We have lots of work at Thursday, with check-in, vehicle/bike inspection, crew chiefs’ meeting and in the afternoon the Prologue starts. We will try to get a few hours of sleep before Friday’s early morning start (3AM). That is when the race clock starts and it doesn’t stop in any case until the cyclist crosses the finish line. Marko’s goal is to finish in around 37 hours, which means one sleepless night and it should bring him (at least close) to victory. Well, the crew members will have some chances to close eyes for short time during the night (one will rest, three will take care of Marko).
The race reglement is similar to that at Race around Slovenia, meaning you have to stop at Time Stations and sign the chart. The racers will also be carrying GPS transmitter so the fans will be able to follow the progress of the race. The road book looks better this year and also the navigation data seems better, hopefully we won’t have problems similar to last year’s (getting lost way TOO MUCH).
That would be all for the short recap of what lays ahead, more about what is going on in the next news.
