5th report from US

The second day of racing has ended. Marko maintains his position in second place. He is about 2.5 hours behind the leader Allen Larsen. The hellish temperatures from yesterday have continued today. The heavy demands of the race have claimed first two victims. One of the Slovene racers, Fredi Virag, has regrettably withdrawn. Marko has covered approximately 500 miles since the race began and tonight he will take his first rest. His sleep is going to be welcomed since he had to cross mountain peaks of over 2000 m three times today. The part of Arizona which is covered by the race route, is not only hot but very mountainous. Marko continues to be in excellent condition but the portion of his anatomy where the bike meets the biker has been strained. Nevertheless his team came prepared with appropriate medication. But where medication works for Marko it does not work for teams cell phones. The phones are not functioning properly and the team has to find inventive ways of communicating.
